What is a Doula?
A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, and educational support during pregnancy, labor, and early postpartum. Our role is to support you!
Birth has not always been a clinical event. For most of history, women labored surrounded by other women. Mothers, sisters, or elders offered reassurance, wisdom, and steady presence. Doulas continue that tradition of experienced, compassionate support while advocating for you so you can rest and labor in peace.
Does Having a Doula Make a Difference?
Yes! A study done by the Cochrane Collaboration shows that continuous labor support from a doula is associated with:
-
39% decrease in cesarean births
-
15% increase in spontaneous vaginal births
-
10% decrease in the use of pain medication
-
31% decrease in the use of synthetic oxytocin
-
34% decrease in negative birth experiences
-
Shorter labors on average
